YSA Plein Air Outing Wednesday, July 6
Time: 9:30 – 12:30
Place: Jones Store on the Sierra Scenic Byway
Note: We are painting a week earlier than our usual – this should allow us to catch some of the high sierra wildflower bloom!
Details: Join the YSA Plein Air group at Jones Store on Wednesday, July 6 from 9:30 – 12:30. Jones Store is located at 39600 Beasore Rd.
Directions from Oakhurst: Head North on Hwy 41 and turn right on Rd. 222. Just as you pass the entrance to The Pines/Duceys on your right, Beasore Rd turn off will be on your left. Turn left on Beasore Rd (also called 5S07) and follow its curves 14 miles to Jones Store (on your left and shortly past Cold Springs Summit).
Other: Carpooling is recommended, but not required. Those who want to carpool or follow someone should meet at Big 5 at 8:45 am.
Jones Store is famous for its pie and burgers, so bring your appetite along with your art supplies! The parking area is dirt and slightly angled downhill. The bathrooms are located behind the store. There are views of cabins in the forest, a meadow off to the side, the store itself (inside and out) is rustic but picturesque, and the wildflower meadows are not far off if you want to venture out a bit.
Check the expected weather before you head up the mountain – it is usually at least ten degrees cooler up there than in Oakhurst. See you there!
Come join us to paint, sketch, photograph en plein-air with Yosemite Sierra Artists. Bring a chair and your art supplies, masks, gloves, sanitizer, and a packed lunch. We are practicing strict social distancing.
