Olé Scovill
Artist Bio
Artist Olé Viravong Scovill is a native of Laos and a graduate in visual art from the Mahasalakham University in Thailand in 2000. She moved to California in 2004 and continued producing her art, showing across the United States including in galleries and exhibits throughout California and in New York. In 2013, Olé returned to Laos where her work pushed cultural boundaries and moved the local art scene forward. She exhibited her art at numerous venues in Laos and other Southeast Asian countries including live performance art, photography, and murals. In 2018 she returned to the US where she continues to create her art.
Olé’s works are mostly acrylic painting on canvas, ink on paper, photography, installations, and performance art. Her themes usually involve dark and colorful depictions of disfigured female forms and explore the broad spectrum of the female experience. Olé hopes that her art inspires women to break through the limitations imposed by the expectations of society and express themselves in their own way.
