Elke Groves
I have a layered background in the arts.  As an artist I’ve been painting watercolor landscapes for over 25 years, have exhibited and won awards in numerous shows in the Bay Area.  As a manager, I had the pleasure of working at Montalvo Art Center in Saratoga, and also ran the Museums of Los Gatos as Executive Director.  During this time I opened an artist coop gallery in town, and it’s still active and thriving.
These full-time endeavors cut into my studio time, but I’ve stayed involved with the Los Gatos Art Association, attended rewarding workshops, and continue to enjoy every moment that the brush hits the paper.
My style is somewhat abstracted, and I enjoy painting buildings and or structures.  In particular I love Mediterranean-style architecture and the effect of using dark skies to add drama.  Fortunately there’s a lot of that type of architecture in N. California so there’s no need to go all the way to Europe for inspiration.  Darn.
