About Joanna

Joanna Palmer

I grew up in a tiny country town in the Sierra Nevada mountains of California on the edge of Yosemite National Park. I had a sense of freedom in the wild: a feeling of complete and utter relaxation under a canopy of trees, and being bathed in the beauty of an unpolluted starlit sky. This is a love I have carried though my life.

At 19 I married my high school sweetheart (who didn’t go to my high-school or even live on the same continent). So I spent the next 15 years in the UK having and raising 3 babies where I learned to love beautiful design and quirky spaces.  There I also got a degree in Midwifery and I saw more incredible things in that career than seem possible!

In 2012 we moved back to California where I realized so many things about my life were utterly changed!  I had to change my career expectations and my lifestyle all in one leap.  I had always wanted to find an outlet to share my love for nature, books and fairytales and I soon discovered that I could do it through the hobby I had been nurturing as a secret joy since I was a child:  I could share my joy with a pencil in my hand!  I started using my sketches to make SVG designs for the scrapbook and crafting market and selling them through my ETSY shop “Sweet Little Wood”. Doing that I taught myself Photoshop and Illustrator basics.  It took me a few years to realize that my painted art was also a viable career choice.  Since I have discovered  the joy it gives (and brings) I haven’t looked back!

Thanks for stopping by and please feel free to contact me.
