Artist Bio
My paintings grow from personal experience and from the different environments that have shaped my life. My landscapes are rooted in time spent outdoors, especially in Yosemite and the Sierra. I often begin with direct observation, then allow memory, mood, and changing light to reshape the scene. I think of these works less as records of a view and more as portraits of a place.
My abstract work reflects another part of my life: more than twenty years spent in architecture and the built environment. Through layers of structure, color, and fragmented form, I explore the human impulse to organize, build, and impose order. Those systems gradually shift, break apart, and become organic again. The work follows a continuing cycle of building, breaking, and rebuilding, while searching for beauty within both structure and disorder.
