Teresa J Sharp

Artist Bio Teresa grew up in a small town in California’s San Joaquin Valley, where she found beauty in everyday life - farms, gardens, wildflowers, and coastal sunsets. She studied art at Shafter High School, Bakersfield Community College, and Fresno State before focusing on homemaking. During those years, she occasionally took watercolor classes.
At 50, Teresa pushed herself artistically by attending an art retreat in France, joining a local watercolor group, and later taking classes at Evergreen College in San Jose, CA.
In 2012, she moved to Yokohama, Japan, where she studied at a small art school. Inspired by Japan’s seasons and rich art culture, she incorporated these elements into her work.
Returning to the U.S. in 2016, she settled in Oakhurst near Yosemite. She joined Yosemite Sierra Artists, exhibiting in juried shows and earning awards, including Best in Show at the 2019 Gold Rush Show sponsored by the Mariposa Sierra Artists Gallery. From 2020-2021 she was a member of the Sierra Artists Gallery and returned to the Gallery in 2025.
May 2025, Teresa shared her work by participating in the Marin Open Studios at the Marin Art & Garden Center in Ross, CA. One of her pieces was juried into the 56th CWA International Watercolor Exhibition in Benicia, CA in 2026.
Teresa’s passion is adding to the beauty of creation in order to reflect our design as co-creators made in the image of God. She enjoys painting koi, flowers, & landscapes in watercolor, gouache and acrylic.
